How to Make a Family Tree - An Introduction to Genealogy
The study of your "family tree" or background is known as genealogy. A
lot of people are interested in learning about their past and who they
are related to, particularly the possibility of being related to an
important figure from American or European history, which can mean
learning how to dig up relevant information that will lead you from
your basic mother, father, grandparent and great-grandparent family
tree to something that stretches much further back into history,
usually across the oceans to the countries where your ancestors came
from before the immigrated to America. The Internet is the new source
of information that many genealogists are using today to trace their
roots.
The good thing is that there is a lot of information available on the
Internet, but the real trick is learning how to find it and how to
apply it to your family tree, with the most popular websites, of
course, being the genealogy websites such as Ancestry, which
contains a variety of different information sources such as military
records, wills, census records, birth certificates, death certificates,
marriage licenses and sometimes old tax papers and records, all of
which can be used to positively identify familial relations.
Unfortunately, a lot of information sometimes means too much
information, making it difficult to figure out sometimes which names
are actual relatives and which ones are from a different family line.
Once you access these Internet genealogy sources you will instantly
realize just how many people there are in the world that have the same
or very similar names to people in your family tree. You will able to
fit the puzzle pieces together through the scraps of solid information
that you have about your family members.
When using these genealogy search engines it helps to have as much data
as possible to narrow down the choices and find your actual relatives.
Beyond the resources that amateur genealogists had at their disposal
prior to the Internet, these web-based research sites give their
members access to records from Ellis Island and other vitally important
resources.
This can help you to find proof of the trip your ancestors took to get
to America. What is interesting is that most of these records are
handwritten, so they can sometimes be difficult to read. Misspellings
of first and last names were very common on these immigration records.
Another great resource site is to check out local court records that
are related to your family's history.
You can get useful genealogy items such as birth and death records,
marriage licenses, divorce records and other legal records that were
filed either locally or through the state department. What is fun is
that each of these documents that you locate will often contain
indicators or links to additional information that will help you to
find more information through the web-based genealogy sites. Funeral
homes that are located in the cities that your relatives lived in, as
well as cemetery records, are other places that can yield a lot of
information.
Funeral homes and death records can give you clues for extending the
reach of your search to include parents, children or even spouses.
Genealogy can be a very exciting and rewarding hobby, not just for the
amateur genealogist who traces the family roots, but to everyone in
your family and to future generations that will be excited to see where
they come from.
It is important to keep up the information that you have gathered and
to continue including new family members in your records in order to
ensure that you provide future generations with a complete picture of
your family tree.

Find other ZORGIUM pages using your favorite search engine:
Enter your search keyword(s) and the keyword "zorgium" into the search input field of

http://google.com.
Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.
ZORGIUM note to content providers: If you don't want your page to appear in Zorgium's search abstraction then put an exclusion for "Zorgium" in your web server's robots.txt file.
